Penge Heritage Walk 2

Penge Heritage Walk 2 is an afternoon walk led by Mr Christopher O’Shaughnessy, and will last approx. 1.5 hours.

Chris has spent many years as a resident of Penge devoting his time to his family and his love of the arts and the history of Penge: he’s a talented still -life painter, a reader of poetry, a playwright, a volunteer to two parks in the area and a true Friend of Penge.

As the main researcher & campaigner for the Penge Heritage trail he is the right person to lead this walk. https://www.pengeheritagetrail.org.uk/

The CPP Dinosaurs

Starting at 2.00pm prompt, outside the Penge West entrance to Crystal Palace Park, the walk will take in the Crystal Palace Dinosaurs, the White House, Penge Recreation Ground, the Victorian Murder Mystery on Mosslea Road, Penge East Station, Queen Adelaide Court, Royal Naval Asylum, St John’s Church and the Almshouses.

Spoiler alert: we don’t really want to spoil it for you, but we do want to entice you to come!

Penge East Railway Station was built in 1861 and it is a nationally-listed Grade ll building.

Queen Adelaide Road was devastated during the blitz in WWII, find out more about how this court was built and why it is a three-sided building.

The walk suits all fitness levels – be prepared for walking on pavements and for possible changeable weather.

It plans to end around 3.30pm and the Penge Heritage Trail guides will be given out.

The walk is free but there will be a collection if you would like to make a donation to the Penge Heritage Trail.
